What memories of the National Park Service will you share?

August is the month for many birthdays, including one on Aug. 25, the 105th birthday of the National Park Service.

The NPS is celebrating all month, and they even have a theme: Park Scrapbooks.

The NPS invites you to share your park memories and experiences — videos, art, poetry, photos, passport stamps, social media stories or however you’d like to share! Then share your scrapbooks on social media using #ParkScrapbooks and #FindYourPark, #EncuentraTuParque.

What memories do you have of National Parks sites?

It’s been a lot of fun for me to go through pictures and posts I’ve made of the many NPS sites I’ve visited. I’m amazed at how many places I’ve been able to visit. Shenandoah National Park; Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields; forts; bottomland hardwood forest; and National Seashores on both coasts. In fact, I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway earlier this summer and saw a bear cub. No pictures because it happened so fast, and it’s best not to stop when you see them.

I’ll share some of these memories to Twitter and Instagram this month. I’ve even made a video now that I’ve found Animoto and Canva. Next up, poetry. (BWAHAHAHAHA!)

Haleakalā National Park site memories

One of my favorite memories is from Haleakalā National Park at the very tip-top of Maui. What memories will you share?

FYI: Another fee free days this month is Aug. 4, in honor of the one-year anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act.
